“Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be
perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less
than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each
step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and
more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more
successful.” -Mark Victor Hansen
I am creative – or at least I tend to think of myself as a creative person. Although, sometimes it’s hard to be a creative person. I don’t know if it’s true for everyone, but I suspect it’s true for a lot of people that getting into that creative groove can be difficult and often times seriously frustrating. So what do creatives tend to do? Wait for the perfect moment.
It’s hard to let go of the control we think we have and let the creative happen. There will be some days when I think I have the perfect setup to engineer an awesome idea – get my juices flowing. Then I get more frustrated than ever when nothing comes to mind. It would seem that the more I try and control what creative ideas arise, the more those ideas stay locked away in my head and have a hard time making it out into the physical form.
For this week, and in the future, it’s important to keep in mind that the harder you try to wait for the perfect moment, or create the perfect moment, the more challenging your job as a creative will be. The important part of this is to keep doing creative things. You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment. It’s about trusting the system. Know that and you will be more successful and in turn, be more confident.
