If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try – Seth Godin
I posted on my tumblr several months ago about the things that scare us the most. I started off this past summer doing a lot of things I was unsure about as far as expectations go and how far I could push my comfort zone. I’ve been trying to keep that in mind as I go through my senior year of college. This next year, of course, will be the first time that I haven’t been in school since…ever.
Finishing college is a big step for me. Then they tell you that you’re going out into the “real world.” What is that supposed to mean?
I would venture to say that the majority of human beings have a huge fear of failure or not being good enough – that the individual is not significant enough to make a change and put himself or herself out there. There is so much criticism in the media everyone is scared out of their mind. Because of this, our fears breach the prospects of the survival of our success.
We are scared of the thought that we might actually become something great. So this week my motivation comes from fear. It comes from understanding that even though there are plenty of opportunities that scare us, it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t at least try. You never know, it could lead to something great.
